development and construction
The Me-165W was a wire-braced low -wing aircraft with an open cockpit in tandem configuration and a tail wheel landing gear . The fuselage consisted of welded steel tubes that were covered with fabric. The wings consisted of wooden frames and spars, which were also covered with fabric. They were stabilized by wire bracing and had a slight gull wing profile .
Only the prototype of this sample was built. Test flights were carried out over a period of six months, with the aircraft showing only slightly better characteristics than the Meyers OTW . Al Meyers gave the machine poor performance. Therefore the development was stopped and the prototype was mothballed. It was later destroyed in a tornado.
