The Meyers OTW ( Out To Win ) is an American trainer aircraft designed by Al Meyers and built by the Meyers Aircraft Company from 1936 to 1944.

development and construction

In anticipation of a demand for training aircraft for the Civil War Training Scheme , where civil flight schools would provide introductory training for the military , Al Meyers designed the OTW and founded the Meyers Aircraft Company to manufacture it. The OTW is a double-decker with two open cockpits in tandem configuration and a rigid tail wheel landing gear . The prototype was equipped with a Warner Scarab engine with 125 hp (92 kW) and had its maiden flight on May 10, 1936. The OTW was mainly built in two versions. The OTW-145 was powered by a Warner Scarab engine with 145 PS (107 kW), the OTW-160 by a Kinner R-5 with 160 PS (118 kW).
