Mezamor ( Armenian Մեծամոր ) is a city in the Armavir Province in Armenia , 23 km southwest of the Armenian capital Yerevan . It was founded in 1969 to house the employees of the Oktemberjan nuclear power plant . Mezamor received town charter in 1992. The name of the town is derived from the nearby Mezamor River . In 2009 Mezamor had 10,287 inhabitants.

The city was mainly planned by the Armenian architect Martin Mikayelyan. The St. Lazarus Church was only built in 2001 .

Near the city, in the area of ​​the village of Taronik, there is the historic site of Mezamor .
