Mezzerschmitt is a Norwegian extreme metal band. The band was founded by Jan Axel Blomberg and Rune Eriksen, both Mayhem , and Lars Sørensen from Red Harvest .
Band history
The members of the project initially wanted to remain anonymous. For this reason they gave themselves the pseudonyms "Herr Schmitt" (Eriksen), "Hauptmann Hammer" (Blomberg) and "Oberleutnant LS" (Sørensen). Mezzerschmitt has only released the EP Weltherrschaft .
Music style and lyrics
The band uses influences from industrial metal , but their style is still inspired by black metal . The lyrics of the four songs of the EP are written in incorrect German (e.g. one title is FeuerZauben ). The band was initially said to have a tendency towards National Socialism and the project was moved into the right-wing extremist corner. The suspicions arose because of the name, the pseudonyms and the martial image. This was supported by several statements by Blomberg, who spoke out against foreigners in Norway in interviews. Rune Eriksen explained that world domination is an imaginary project and therefore apolitical. The band wants to represent a dark future vision.
