Main components

Mhlathuze Transfer Scheme

Mhlathuze Water continuously draws water from the Mhlathuze River , which is fed from the Goedertrouw Dam . The raw water is taken from a pumping station at a weir that is about 70 kilometers away from this dam.

The main customers in the Mhlathuze Transfer Scheme (German roughly: "Mhlathuze transmission system") via this pumping station are:

Nsezi Water Treatment Plant

This water treatment plant ( Nsezi Treatment Works - NTW) takes mostly water from the Mhlathuze River (93%) and smaller volumes from Lake Nsezi (7%). Mhlathuze Water will continue to provide the City of uMhlathuze (CoU) with purified water for the associated community of Richards Bay if Mzingazi Water Treatment Works remains out of service due to the low water level in Mzingazi Lake .

External service areas
