Mia Engberg

Mia Engberg (born September 26, 1970 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish director and film producer .

Life

Engberg studied documentary film in Paris and Stockholm from 1994 to 1997 . Since then she has published several short and documentary films. She had her first success with the film The Stars we Are about a homosexual , HIV- positive skinhead . The film was nominated in 1998 for the Swedish Guldbagge Film Award in the Best Short Film category and shown at the Munich Film Festival . In 2001 she made her first lesbian porn film , Selma & Sofie . This was shown at festivals in Reykjavík and Paris. The film team consisted entirely of women.

In 2009 there was a scandal over her episode film Dirty Diaries , which consists of twelve feminist short porn films by different directors. Was involved, among other esters Martin Bergmark . Dirty Diaries was supported by the Swedish Film Institute with 500,000 crowns (approx. 50,000 euros). This use of taxpayers' money was seen as inappropriate in some areas, which led to protests. In 2011, Engberg received the PorYes Award for the film .

In 2013 her film Belleville Baby was shown at the Berlinale .

Engberg is a lecturer in documentary film at Stockholms dramatiska Högskola .
