Miami Americans was an American football club based in Miami , Florida .

history

In 1976 the club was founded as New Jersey Americans and celebrated their first success in 1977 when they were champions in the American Soccer League . In 1979 the owner Joseph Raymond sold the club to a London-based company. The new owners moved the location of the club to Miami and named the club Miami Americans . In addition, Ron Newman was signed as the new coach. On June 20, Newman left the club and moved to the San Diego Sockers . Five days later the club was sold to Stan Noah and Archie Oliver. After the 1980 season, the club was dissolved.
