Mianus River State Park Scenic Reserve , together with Treetops , the former estate of Torch singer and actress Libby Holman , forms Mianus River State Park . The popular recreational areas stretch along the Mianus River between Stamford and Greenwich in Fairfield County of the US state Connecticut . The surrounding area also includes Mianus River and Natural Park (110 acres, owned by the Town of Greenwich ), and Mianus River Park (187 acres, owned by the City of Stamford ), and Newman Mills Park . These parks form the Mianus Greenway , which is intended to serve as a natural water resource to protect the river.

Surname

The name probably goes back to the Sachem Myn Myano . The name means roughly: "He who brings together".

Treetops

In 2001, local residents tried to secure the property from property speculation. 94 acres (38 ha) have been designated as a state park and a further 11 acres (4 ha) around the Treetops mansion have been placed under protection through a Conservation Easement . Many rooms in the villa have been restored by the current owners. This also includes the studio of Louis Schanker , abstract artist and third husband of Holman.

Since 2006 the Treetops Chamber Music Society has been holding its annual concerts in the studio.
