The Miaodao Islands ( Chinese 庙 岛 群岛 , Pinyin Miaodao Qundao , also 庙 群岛 , Miao Qundao , literally "Archipelago of Temples"), also Changshan Islands ( Chinese 長 山 列島 , Pinyin Chángshān Lièdǎo ) or Meishan Islands ( 眉山 列岛 , Meishan Liedao ) are located on Bohai Street ( Chili Street ) between the Liaodong and Shandong peninsulas . They form the borderline between the Bohai Sea and the open Yellow Sea and are the gateway to the Bohai Sea.
The archipelago consists of over 30 larger and smaller islands such as Nanchangshan 南 长 山 , Beichangshan 北 长 山 , Daqin 大 钦 , Xiaoqin 小 钦 and Huangcheng 隍 城 as well as about 80 other rocky reefs. The Miaodao Islands form the administrative area of Changdao County in the Chinese province of Shandong . The largest island is Nanchangshan, which is also the capital and seat of government of Changdao County.
The late Paleolithic Beizhuang site ( 北 庄 遗址 , Beizhuang yizhi , English Beizhuang Site ) in the village of Beizhuang 北 庄村 of the Daheishan municipality 大 黑 山乡 has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-10) since 1996 .
