Michał Marian Siedlecki
Michał Marian Siedlecki (born September 8, 1873 in Kraków , Austria-Hungary ; † January 11, 1940 in Sachsenhausen concentration camp ) was a Polish marine biologist .
In 1923 he founded a marine research institute on the Hel Peninsula and worked at the universities of Strasbourg , Vilnius and Krakow . As part of the Cracow special campaign , he was arrested on Monday, November 6, 1939, by SS-Sturmbannführer Bruno Müller with over 100 professors and deported to Sachsenhausen concentration camp , where he died the following year.
In the People's Republic of Poland , the Institute for Deep Sea Fisheries and a fisheries research ship received his name.
