Michael Aaron (born July 4, 1898 in London , United Kingdom , † April 29, 1963 in Miami , Florida , United States ) was an American pianist , piano teacher and composer .

Life

Michael Aaron's parents were Jacob Aaron and May Sonkin. They emigrated with Michael to Calgary , Canada , where they lived in 1910. Aaron attended public schools in Calgary. In addition to autodidactic studies, he had piano lessons from 1913 to 1916 with John M. Williams in Calgary. During exams at the Royal School of Music in London in 1916, he earned an Honor Certificate . From 1920 he lived in New York City and gave private piano lessons. On August 22, 1925, he married in Montreal Jessie McGregor (1901-1950), with whom he had a daughter, Beverley Aaron (* 1932). The marriage ended in divorce in 1938. On January 3, 1943, he married Muriel Reisman. With her he had a son, Robert Aaron (* 1948). On January 14, 1943, he became a US citizen. From 1949 he ran a private piano school in Merrick, Long Island, New York. He was an honorary member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers .
