Michael Adkins

Michael Adkins (* around 1980 in Sarnia , Ontario ) is a Canadian jazz musician ( tenor saxophone ).

Adkins got into jazz through his saxophone older sister; through his friend he discovered the music of John Coltrane . He has lived in New York City since the 2000s and has since worked with Paul Motian , one of whose last working band he belonged to and with whom he a. a. performed at the Village Vanguard . Under his own name, he recorded two albums, Infotation (Semblance, 2005, with John Hebert and Ian Froman ) and rotator ( Hathut Records , 2008 with Russ Lossing , John Hebert and Paul Motian), which the British magazine Wire to the top Albums of the year 2008 is counted.
