Russ Lossing

Russ Lossing (born February 18, 1960 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American jazz pianist and composer .

Live and act

Lossing began taking classical piano lessons at the age of six and has lived in New York City since 1986 . Influenced by contemporary music in his piano playing and his impressionistic compositions , he recorded his debut album Dreamer in 2000 for the Double-Time label in a trio with bassist Ed Schuller and drummer Paul Motian . A number of productions for HatHut , OmniTone and Clean Feed Records followed , among others. a. with Mat Maneri / Mark Dresser ( Metal Rat , 2006), John Hébert and Michael Adkins' quartet . Lossing also worked with Billy Drewes and Michael Formanek , Daniel Guggenheim , Kyoko Kitamura , Dave Liebman , Tony Moreno , Bob Moses , Bobby Previte , Tom Rainey , Judi Silvano , Kirk Knuffke ( Witness , 2018) and Loren Stillman . He composed a number of film scores, including a. for documentaries for the broadcasters PBS and BBC .
