Michael Andreas Häringer (born September 26, 2001 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish pianist and composer of German descent.

Life

Häringer was born in Barcelona, ​​Spain. He is the great-great-great-grandson of Franz Liszt . In 2005 he joined the Escuela Luthier de Artes Musicales in Barcelona as a choir singer. He started playing the piano at the age of five. Since 2007 he has been taking lessons from the Russian pianist Gennady Dzubenko. He was only eight years old when he was admitted to the Conservatorio Municipal de Musica de Barcelona , where he was the youngest student to date to study piano, singing, harmony / theory and composition.

His father died when he was nine years old. Back then he gave up composing for about a year.

Career

In 2008 he made his first public appearance when he gave a concert in the Church of St. Gaieta in Barcelona. He also performed at the International Festival of Music in Campodron . The festival was held in honor of the 100th birthday of the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz . In 2010 he made his solo debut in Murcia , playing Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major. He played the same piece a year later with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga (Spain). His performance was so successful that he received an invitation to perform the work again in France in November 2011. In 2012 he performed in Vilafranca (Spain), where he played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1. In 2012 he also won first prize in the Spanish television competition “Tú si que vales”. In 2013 he was in KKL Luzern (Switzerland) and performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 under the direction of Howard Griffith. In April and May 2013 Michael went on tour with the GIO Orchestra through Catalonia , Spain. In the same year he took part in the television competition "Los Increibles" on Antena3, where he also won first place. Since then further concerts have followed in Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries.

On April 27, 2014, his very first own composition for orchestra and piano was premiered in the Auditori Teatre Espai Ter in Girona . The piece is entitled Polonesa en Do menor . Michael appeared as a soloist.

Michael Andreas Häringer has taken part in several national and international music competitions for young people up to the age of 18 since 2008 and has won several prizes, such as first prize in the national competition Jugend musiziert (Germany) in 2014 and the European Prize of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben at the same event . He also took part in the piano competition of the Bruc Conservatory in Barcelona, ​​where he also won first prize and an honorary award for special achievement. In 2016 he won the “Young Virtuoso Award” in the international Manhattan Music Competition. At the age of 14, he was the youngest participant ever to win the Young virtuoso award. In August 2018 he won the silver medal at the International Berlin Music Competition 2018.

On December 14th, 2018 he received the "Gold, Incense and Mirra 2018" award from Radio COPE Marbella for his artistic achievement.

Works

The young composer wrote the works of Recuerdos (at the age of seven), Despedida (also at the age of seven), El delfín, mi amigo and La danza de las abejas (at the age of eight), I am missing you and La sonrisa del Mediterraneo ( at the age of ten), Polonesa (at the age of eleven) and 3 romances , Rainbow, Ballade pour Nathalie, Nocturno, Vals and two fantasies (at the age of 12)

He composed his first single, Summertime , when he was 11 years old. The song was released on iTunes on July 15, 2016. The accompanying video clip was viewed over 2 million times on YouTube 4 weeks after its publication. His most successful single to date is You and Me . He wrote this song for his girlfriend Nelly when he was 13. The related video clip was viewed over 11 million times on YouTube (as of March 2018).

The documentary Ein Spiel der Genes (2014) deals with the life of Michael Andreas Häringer. Michael Andreas, as he calls himself on his website, wrote the original music for the film himself at the age of fourteen. It was directed by the Austrian film director and producer Natalie J. Halla . The film was shown at the Festival de Cine Documental Musical de Donostia-San Sebastián in Spain, the Festival Internacional de Cinema e Vídeo de Arraial d'Ajuda in Brazil and the SOUND On SCREEN Music Film Festival in South Africa .

Michael Andreas Häringer also wrote the music for Natalie Halla's documentary Life in four elements , which was released in 2017.
