Michael Anthony Parris (born October 4, 1957 in Georgetown , British Guiana ) is a retired Guyanese boxer .
Athletic career
His most significant achievement was winning the bronze medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in bantamweight . After victories over Nureni Gbadamosi ( Nigeria ), Fayez Zaghloul ( Syria ) and Daniel Zaragoza ( Mexico ), he was defeated in the semifinals by the later Olympic champion Juan Bautista Hernández from Cuba by a referee decision. To date, this is the only medal that Guyana has won at the Olympic Games.
