Michael Anthony Arthur

Sir Michael Anthony Arthur KCMG (born August 28, 1950 ) is a British diplomat.

He studied politics and economics at the University of Oxford and was accepted into the diplomatic service in 1972. Initially, he worked in the British Mission to the UN in Geneva . He later worked in the embassies in Paris and Washington, DC 2001–2003, Arthur was Director General for Europe and the Economy at the State Department . In 2004 he was named Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George . This was followed by an assignment as British High Commissioner in New Delhi . From 2007 to 2010 Arthur was the British ambassador in Berlin .

Arthur is married and has four children.
