Peter Jakob Wortmann (born February 2, 1768 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ); † April 21, 1814 there ) was a merchant and councilor in Elberfeld.

Wortmann was born the son of Jakob Wortmann (1732–1802), who was mayor of Elberfeld in 1772, and Anna Philippina vom Scheidt (1730–1797). On March 11, 1794, he married Johanna Katharina Siebel (1774-1852) in Elberfeld and had four children with her. His daughter, Anna Margarete Wortmann (* 1802), married Julius Möller, a businessman and later President of the Chamber of Commerce , in 1828 .

Wortmann was a merchant at the vicarie on Berliner Strasse in Elberfeld. In 1803 he was proposed and elected for the election of mayor by his predecessor Abraham Peter von Carnap , along with three other candidates . After a year-long tenure, he became a city judge in 1804 and a member of the council in 1805.
