Abraham Peter of Carnap

Abraham Peter von Carnap (born March 3, 1766 in Elberfeld , today part of Wuppertal ; † June 22, 1838 ibid) was a merchant and councilor in Elberfeld.

Abraham Peter von Carnap was the son of Johannes von Carnap, a merchant from Elberfeld, councilor and lay judge of the city court (* 1735 in Elberfeld; † 1793 ibid), and Maria Christina Siebel (* 1735 in Elberfeld; † 1790 in Nymwegen , Netherlands) Child baptism on March 12, 1766 in Elberfeld.

On March 10, 1791 he married Anna Katharina Quack (1769–1822) in Hees near Nymwegen and had four children with her, two of whom died in childhood. His sons were Johann Adolf von Carnap (1793–1871), who was Lord Mayor of Elberfeld from 1837 to 1850 , and the businessman Johann Eduard von Carnap. His great-grandfather was Peter von Carnap , who was mayor of Elberfeld in 1722 , and his grandfather was Johannes von Carnap . In 1737 he was mayor of Elberfeld. Abraham Peter von Carnap himself was elected mayor in Elberfeld in 1802. In 1803 he was appointed city judge in Elberfeld.
