Peter von Carnap (born February 1, 1669 in Elberfeld , † 1736 ibid) was a German politician and mayor of Elberfeld.

Peter von Carnap was the son of the merchant and district judge Johannes von Carnap (1643–1679) and his wife Anna Margareta Bredt (1647–1730). Peter acquired citizenship on February 27, 1694. He was first proposed in the mayoral election in 1717, but was defeated by Peter Wichelhausen . Five years later, in 1722, he was proposed and elected a second time. The following year he was therefore the city judge of Elberfeld.

Peter von Carnap married Susanna Teschemacher (1694–1744) in 1694, with whom he had seven children. Two of his sons also became mayors of Elberfeld. Johannes von Carnap was elected in 1737, his brother Peter von Carnap , who was two years older, also became mayor of Elberfeld two years later.
