Johann Adolf Stuttberg

Johann Adolf Stuttberg (* January 1756 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ); † December 18, 1805 there ) was an Elberfeld merchant and 1801 mayor of the city of Elberfeld.

Stuttberg was born in January 1756 and baptized on January 27th. He was born the son of the Elberfeld merchant Johann Peter Adolf Stuttberg (1715–1771) and Anna Agnes Wetter (1717–1765). In 1784 he married Johanna Maria Plücker, the daughter of two-time Elberfeld mayor Johannes Plücker . Eight children are known from the marriage.

Stuttberg was a businessman by profession and in 1800, 1803 and 1804 a member of the council. In 1801 he was elected mayor. The following year he became the city judge. Today the Stuttbergstraße in Wuppertal-Elberfeld reminds of him.
