Jakob Wortmann

Jakob Wortmann (born January 31, 1732 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ); † March 18, 1802 there ) was mayor of Elberfeld.

Wortmann was born the son of the businessman and councilor Wilhelm Wortmann (1681–1754) and his third wife Anna Maria Siebel (1701–1776), the daughter of Anton Siebel . He himself married on October 14, 1762 Anna Philippina vom Scheidt (1730–1797), with whom he had a son. This was Peter Jakob Wortmann and in 1803 also mayor of Elberfeld.

Wortmann was also a businessman and was a council member for the first time in 1765. The following year again and then again from 1769 to 1771. In 1772 he was proposed and elected mayor for the first and only time. After a year in office, he became city judge in 1773. Since July 11, 1793 he was a lay judge at the city court and from 1774 again, this time until 1778, in the city council.
