Michael Begley (rower)
Michael "Mike" Begley (born September 22, 1872 in Dublin , † August 24, 1938 in St. Louis ) was an American rower .
Born in Ireland, Begley first lived in Boston after immigrating, where he rowed at the East Boston Amateur Athletic Boat Club . He then moved to St. Louis and joined the Mound City Rowing Club . A boat from this club with Frederick Suerig , Martin Formanack , Charles Aman and Michael Begley took part in the four-man competition at the 1904 St. Louis Olympic Games . With only three boats from St. Louis taking part in the competition, it was sort of a city championship. The Century Boat Club boat won two lengths ahead of Mound City Rowing Club .
