Michael Bell (politician)

Michael Bell (born October 1, 1936 , † May 20, 2011 in Dublin ) was an Irish politician of the Irish Labor Party and sat from 1982 to 2002 in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .

In November 1982 Bell was elected for the first time in the Louth constituency for the Irish Labor Party in the Dáil Éireann. In the following elections he was always able to defend his seat until 2002. During his time as a member of parliament , he was also active in local politics. He was a member of Louth County Council and Drogheda Corporation and was Mayor of Drogheda from 1984 to 1985 . In 1993 he was a member of the Council of Europe .

Before becoming a politician, Bell was a full-time trade unionist . He was married and had four children, a son and three daughters.
