Michael Binder (politician)

Michael Binder (born July 29, 1920 in Tüßling ; † March 3, 2002 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Binder, the son of a social democratic shoemaker, first learned to be a locksmith and worked as an electrician and welder at Wacker Chemie in Burghausen . Before the Second World War he began studying heavy current engineering at the Munich Polytechnic , which was interrupted in 1940 by five years of military service as an infantry soldier on the Eastern Front . In 1942 he became an officer . He was wounded three times in total. After the end of the war he continued his studies and after successfully completing his degree in 1946 became head of the municipal utilities in Mühldorf am Inn. In 1955 he became a board member of the Association of Municipal Enterprises in Bavaria and, in 1960, of the Association of Bavarian Electricity Works. From 1962, in addition to his work at Mühldorfer Stadtwerke, he was also the managing director of Energieversorgung Inn / Salzach.

From 1966 on, Binder was a member of the city council in Mühldorf am Inn and also a member of the district council. From 1970 to 1974 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .
