Michael Brügger

Michael Brügger (born November 27, 1961 in Krefeld ; † June 29, 2009 ) was a German bodybuilder and strength athlete .

Life

Brügger mainly competed in powerlifting and was internationally successful. He co-founded KSV Krefeld in 1989 and was world champion of the juniors in Australia in 1984 in the weight class up to 110 kg . With this victory Brügger laid the foundation for his later career. In 1990 he was able to secure the world title in the class up to 125 kg. After winning this title, Brugger still took part in various championships, but never won a world title. In addition to KSV Krefeld, Brügger also competed for AC Soest.

Michael Brügger was the first German to cross the 1000 kilogram mark in powerlifting. However, it was controversial among bodybuilders due to the use of synthol .

Brügger was employed in a fitness studio in Düren and also looked after the bodybuilder Daniela Brügger , with whom he was also married. Michael Brügger has been training again in Krefeld since 2005, at the Gartenstadt sports studio. Until his death, Brügger also looked after the juniors of KSV Krefeld.
