Michael Buyx , full name Peter Michael Buyx , (born December 17, 1795 in Nieukerk , † September 18, 1882 ibid) was a German geometer .

Between 1808 and 1810 Buyx attended the French college in Kempen . After the campaign against France he returned to his homeland as an officer in the Landwehr and began his work as a cartographer of the Lower Rhine . Buyx created the antiquarian chart of the Niers area from Weeze to Grefrath . He was an artist and designed his cards with care and delicacy. He was also interested in objects from the prehistory of his homeland. He drew these into his albums with the same care.

With like-minded people like Hubert Mooren from Wachtendonk and Friedrich Nettesheim from Geldern , he founded the first historical association in his homeland in 1851, the historical association for Geldern and the surrounding area . His house in the center of Nieukerk, named after him, has been restored and now houses, among other things, the meeting room of the council of the municipality of Kerken.
