Michael Creagh

Michael Creagh (* 1973 or 1974 in Belfast ) is an Irish filmmaker.

Life

Creagh studied design, visual communication and graphic design at Belfast College, University of Ulster until 1996 . He then worked for various advertising companies in Dublin and made commercials for Tesco and John West Foods , among others . In the spring of 2009 he shot his feature film debut The Crush in his home town of Skerries in Fingal , in which he cast his son in the lead role. He financed the film himself with support from his father and a bank loan. The Crush won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2010 and was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Animated Short Film in 2011 .

Creagh started his own advertising company Purdy Pictures in 2010. He works as a freelance commercial filmmaker and director in Skerries.
