Michael Detjen

Michael Detjen (born April 28, 1958 in Nordhausen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and trade unionist . In January 2018 he replaced Jutta Steinruck as a member of the European Parliament . There he is a full member of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee. He is also an alternate member of the Transport and Tourism Committee and an alternate member of the delegation for the EU-Montenegro Parliamentary Stabilization and Association Committee. In the European elections in 2019 , he received no mandate.

education and profession

Michael Detjen graduated as a middle-class civil servant in 1983 . From 1989 to 1990 he studied at the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt and from 1990 to 1992 he studied at the "Seminar for Labor and Social Law" also at the Academy for Labor in Frankfurt. From 1977 to 1989 he held various positions at the Deutsche Bundespost. From 1992 to 1993 he was DGB legal protection secretary in Pirmasens . Then from 1993 to 1995 district chairman of the DGB district West Palatinate-Pirmasens. He was then from 1995 to 2001 district chairman of the DGB district West Palatinate-Kaiserslautern. From 2001 to 2013 Michael Detjen was DGB regional chairman for West Palatinate. From 2010 to 2017 then 1st authorized representative of IG-Metall Kaiserslautern and from 2013 to 2017 DGB regional manager.
