Michael Embach

Michael Embach (born July 9, 1956 in Trier ) is a German librarian , archivist and Germanist .

Life

After graduating from the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Trier (1975), Michael Embach studied German and Catholic theology at the University of Trier and graduated in 1980 with the state examination for teaching at grammar schools. After he had passed the assessor examination for academic librarianship in 1982 , he was appointed library councilor in the library of the Episcopal Seminary in Trier . After graduating as Dr. phil. 1986 in the subject of New German Literature at the University of Trier with a dissertation on "The Luther picture Johann Gottfried Herders" he became 1989 director of the library of the Episcopal Seminary Trier. After completing his habilitation in 2000 in the subject of older German philology at the University of Trier with an investigation on the subject of Hildegard von Bingen's writings. Studies on their transmission and reception in the Middle Ages and in the early modern period , he took over the management of the city ​​library and the city archive of Trier in 2007 .
