Michael Fendre (born May 12, 1974 in Bruck an der Mur ) is an Austrian conductor .

Michael Fendre gained his first musical experience as a conductor while still a student with the string orchestra Arco Musicale, which he founded in Graz in 1996 . Soon he was invited as a guest conductor by various orchestras and ensembles such as the Kremerata baltica, I solisti L'Aquilani or the Cappella Istropolitana. With these orchestras he was a guest at festivals such as the Styriarte or in Lockenhaus . He worked closely with soloists such as Gidon Kremer or Thomas Larcher as well as with the composer Arvo Pärt (several world premieres, Graz 2003 - European Capital of Culture).

From 2000 to 2003 he devoted himself to musical studies, analytically getting to the bottom of all of Joseph Haydn's 107 symphonies , which he also rehearsed during these three years.

In 2002 he founded the Festival Trigonale - Festival of Early Music and was director of this festival until 2006. For this festival he hired artists like Jordi Savall , Ton Koopman , Andreas Scholl , Emma Kirkby , Roberta Invernizzi , Giovanni Antonini and ensembles like The Hilliard Ensemble , Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra , Il Giardino Armonico , Quadriga Consort and Venice Baroque Orchestra. During this time, all Beethoven and Brahms symphonies were also performed under his musical direction.
