Michael Friederichsen (born November 15, 1938 in Munich ) is a German visual artist and grandson of Ludwig Friederichsen .

Life

After early artistic and craft experience through his parents' house, Friederichsen completed an apprenticeship as a silversmith from 1957 to 1960, which he completed with a journeyman's certificate in the master class for gold and silversmiths with Professor Rolf Goldschmitt, Vocational Training Center Munich. His father, Roland Friederichsen , trained him to be a sculptor from 1960 to 1964. Formative for him were u. a. Encounters with the artists Heinrich Kirchner , Hans Mettel and Joseph Beuys .

Through construction internships and construction management with various architects in Munich and Münster / Westphalia, he became familiar with architectural issues. Friederichsen has been working as a self-employed, freelance sculptor since 1962, and since 1965 in his own studio in Heimstetten near Kirchheim near Munich . He carries out commissioned work, in particular several art-in-building projects, and since 1997 increasingly freelance work. His preferred materials are natural stone and, since the 1990s, glass.
