Michael Wolff Metternich

Michael Graf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht (* July 21, 1920 in Eupen ; † February 14, 2018 in Flörsheim am Main ) was a German automobile historian.

Life

The trained farmer and later representative of a large insurance company has been active in the German classic car scene since the 1960s. On February 13, 1967, he became the founding president of the Maybach Club, of which he was honorary president. Since 1965 he has contributed significantly to conveying the history of the automobile as the author of numerous articles, specialist contributions and books as well as a speaker. Among other things, he wrote standard works on the brands Maybach , Rumpler and on topics such as three-wheeled or rocket vehicles . Wolff Metternich is a founding member of the Automobilhistorische Gesellschaft (AHG) .

Michael Graf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht was married to Ingmarie, born Freiin von Ritter von Groenesteyn, and had one son. The family lives at Weilbach Castle in Flörsheim am Main . There he was active in local politics for the CDU .
