Michael Grubert

Michael Grubert (born September 25, 1959 in Jakarta ) is a German lawyer and local politician . He is a member of the SPD and has been the full-time mayor of the Kleinmachnow community since 2009 .

Michael Grubert was born in 1959 in the Indonesian capital Jakarta as the son of a global Bosch employee . After further stays abroad, Grubert started school in Cape Town , South Africa , and came to Germany. He completed his school career in the cities of Stuttgart , Dortmund and Berlin . After graduating from high school, Grubert studied law and political science in Berlin. During his studies he joined the SPD in 1983. After graduating, Michael Grubert initially worked as a lawyer and from 1989 to 1991 in a Berlin property management company. He then took over the management of the non-profit housing company Kleinmachnow (Gewog).

After the former mayor Wolfgang Blasig in December 2008 as the new district of Potsdam-Mittelmark district had been chosen, the post he assumed on February 16, 2009 Grubert appeared as candidate of the SPD in the election. After winning a little over 25 percent of the votes in the first ballot, he secured an absolute majority in the runoff election on March 29, 2009 against Klaus-Jürgen Warnick from DIE LINKE and was elected full-time mayor for eight years. On November 27, 2016, Grubert was elected mayor of Kleinmachnow again. He received 57.8% of the vote and thus prevailed against the opponent Uda Bastians supported by the CDU and FDP.

Michael Grubert is married. He has four children and has lived in Kleinmachnow since 1996.
