Michael Hassemer

Michael Hassemer (* 1966 in Saarbrücken ) is a German legal scholar , university professor and judge .

Life

Hassemer is the son of the Vice President of the Federal Constitutional Court and legal scholar Winfried Hassemer . He studied law at the University of Munich and completed the legal preparatory service in the district of the Munich Higher Regional Court . From 1996 to 2000 he was a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law in Munich. He was at the University of Munich in 1999 with the thesis Intellectual Property Rights in Mercosur: patents, designs, varieties and trademark protection in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to Dr. iur. PhD . He then became a research assistant at the Institute for International Law at this university . In 2006 he completed his habilitation there with the thesis Heteronomy and Relativity in Obligations: on the Liability of the Manufacturer in European Consumer Goods Law .

2006 Hassemer followed a call to the Department of Civil Law, Business Law and Intellectual Property of the University of Kaiserslautern . In addition to his professorship, he has been a member of the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate since February 2014 and a member of the 4th Senate at the Zweibrücken Higher Regional Court since December 2015 . Since 2017 he has also been a member of the advisory board of the Institute for Weltanschauungsrecht .
