Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate
The Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate is the constitutional court founded in 1947 and the highest court in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is an equal constitutional body alongside the state parliament and the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate . As a court it is not subject to any authority of the government or parliament.
Jurisdiction
Its task is to monitor all activities of the public authority ( legislative , executive , judicial ) of the state for compliance with the provisions of the constitution for Rhineland-Palatinate . The Constitutional Court interprets the state constitution in a legally binding manner. However, it is only active on request in the cases provided for in the state constitution . In practice, the most important types of complaint are constitutional complaints , judicial review and organ dispute proceedings . Procedural regulations result from the state constitution and from the state law on the Constitutional Court.
Headquarters, staff and organization
The seat of the court is Koblenz . It is housed in the building of the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate , through whose offices the Constitutional Court also handles its proceedings.
President of the Constitutional Court is Lars Brocker , who in personal union also acts as President of the Higher Administrative Court. Vice President of the Constitutional Court and the Higher Administrative Court is Dagmar Wünsch.
The judges of the Constitutional Court are first of all the president and professional judges , who must be qualified to be judges , and five other members who do not have to be qualified to be judges. These are considered the full members of the Constitutional Court. The Constitutional Court also includes the Vice-President of the Higher Administrative Court as deputy to the President, three other professional judges and five other members. In addition to the President of the Court and the Vice-President, the full and deputy members of the Constitutional Court are elected by the Landtag for a period of six years. Two thirds of the vote is required for each election.
