Karl-Friedrich Meyer

Karl-Friedrich Meyer (born March 27, 1947 in Fluterschen ) is a German lawyer and was President of the Constitutional Court and the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1996 to 2012 .

Life

Karl-Friedrich Meyer put in 1966 at the Staatl. New-language grammar school Altenkirchen (Westerwald) passed the Abitur. From 1966 to 1968 he was a temporary soldier in the Bundeswehr. He then studied law in Bonn , where he passed the first state examination in 1973 and the second state examination in 1975 in Koblenz. He received his doctorate from the University of Mainz in 1977 on an administrative law topic.

From 1976 he was a judge at the Koblenz Administrative Court. From 1979 to 1981 he was a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe. In 1981 he was appointed judge at the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate and was a consultant at the Mainz Ministry of Justice from 1983 to 1988. Subsequently he was Vice President of the Higher Administrative Court until 1990 and in this capacity permanent representative of the chairman of the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate. In 1990 he moved to the Mainz Ministry of Justice as ministerial director and head of the "Justice Administration" department. From 1996 until his retirement in March 2012, he was President of the Constitutional Court and the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate in Koblenz. In this office he sat u. a. for the acceleration of the procedures and the streamlining of the judicial structures.

In 1984 Meyer took on a teaching position at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer and was appointed honorary professor in 1997 . He is a volunteer a. Chairman of the Commission for Good Scientific Practice at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management (since 2001) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the KOGötz and Rissa Foundation (since 2018).
