Karl-Heinz Weyrich

Karl-Heinz Weyrich (born December 24, 1925 in Mannheim ; † September 11, 2002 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a politician of the SPD . From 1975 to 1991 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Life

Weyrich was doctorate lawyer and as a lawyer , first junior partner in the Ludwigshafen-based law firm of his mentor Friedrich Wilhelm Wagner . He later became its successor.

Weyrich began his local political activity as a member of the local council of his place of residence Altrip . When he became chairman of the SPD district association in what is now the Rhein-Pfalz district , he also took over the leadership of the SPD parliamentary group in the district council . One of his specialties was social policy , his thoughts on this were reprinted posthumously.

At the state level, Weyrich was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1975 to 1991, and was chairman of the legal committee from 1983 until he left state politics. From 1977 he acted as chairman of the "IPEKS" investigative committee and from 1985 as chairman of the "Kanter criminal case" (see also party donation affair ).

Weyrich was u. a. Vice-President of the Palatinate Bar Association and member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Judicial Examination Office . From 1991 he was a full member of the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate .

During his professional life he lived in Altrip, he spent his retirement in Dirmstein . He was also buried in the local cemetery .

Awards and obituary

Weyrich was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class . Because of his services to professional organization and legal training, he was awarded the title of Counselor . The state of Rhineland-Palatinate honored him with the award of the Freiherr vom Stein plaque .

Joachim Mertes, chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, published the following obituary : “With the death of Dr. Karl-Heinz Weyrich lost the SPD Rhineland-Palatinate and the state a committed advocate of the social constitutional state, who successfully stood up for his convictions [...] The distinguished lawyer tirelessly stood up for Rhineland-Palatinate and his homeland, the Vorderpfalz, and will be us always be a role model. "
