NGC 4900 is a bar-spiral dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SBc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 40 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter.

The type IIPp supernova SN 1999br was observed here.

The object was discovered by William Herschel on April 30, 1786 .
