NGC 4924 is a 12.8 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type "SB0-a" in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 212 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 120,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4856 , NGC 4877 , NGC 4887 , NGC 4902 , among others .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on May 8, 1831 .
