NGC 4901 is a 14.6 may bright elliptical galaxy with active galaxies core from the Hubble type E1 in the constellation hunting dogs on the northern sky . It is an estimated 392 million light years from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 4917 .
The object was discovered on March 7, 1831 by John Herschel .
