NGC 4905 is a 13.4 mag bright, lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type SB0-a in the constellation of the Centaur , about 230 million light-years away from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on March 30, 1835 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflector telescope, which it marked with “vF, R, 30 arcseconds, attached to a star; the following of two ”. The second object mentioned is NGC 4903 .
