NGC 4923 is a 13.7 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type E-SB0 in the constellation Haar der Berenike , about 246 million light years away from the Milky Way. It belongs to the Coma galaxy cluster and was discovered on April 11, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, which “Three. The two following are pretty near each other. The sp about 8 ′ distant ”noted. The other two objects are NGC 4911 and NGC 4921 ; a fourth object in this group, NGC 4919 , was only discovered by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest in 1864 .
