NGC 4938 is a 14.4 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 374 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 90,000 ly. In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 4932 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on February 17, 1831 .
