NGC 4921 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 246 million light years from the Milky Way and about 175,000 ly in diameter. It is the brightest galaxy in the Coma cluster of galaxies .
The galaxies NGC 4911 , NGC 4919 , NGC 4923 , IC 4044 are located in the same area of the sky .

The galaxy does not have bright, bright spiral arms , but only a dark dust ring and individual clusters of bright bluish stars. NGC 4921 is relatively structureless, especially in the outer areas.

The supernova SN 1959B was observed here.

The object was discovered by William Herschel at the end of the 18th century , but he did not yet know that it was a distant galaxy.
