IC 4044 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 384 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 ly in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4906 , NGC 4908 , IC 4030 , IC 4041 .
The object was discovered by Hermann Kobold on May 9, 1896 .
