IC 4051 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E5 in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 394 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 105,000 ly in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .
The galaxies NGC 4908 , IC 4040 , IC 4041 , IC 4042 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The Type I supernova SN 1950A was observed here.

The object was discovered on April 12, 1891 by Guillaume Bigourdan .
