IC 4041 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E5 in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is an estimated 318 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly. The galaxy is considered a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .
The galaxies NGC 4908 , IC 4033 , IC 4040 , IC 4042 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Hermann Kobold on May 8, 1896 .
