PGC 44809 (also IC 4042A ) is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 374 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4906 , IC 4041 , IC 4042 , IC 4044 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2006bz was observed here.
