NGC 4909 is an annular spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Centaur in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 143 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 ly in diameter.

The object was discovered on June 5, 1834 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "eF, precedes 3 or 4 stars, 11..12th mag."
