NGC 4888 is a 13.4 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo , which is about 175 million light-years from the Milky Way's center.
It was discovered together with NGC 4878 and NGC 4879 in a single observation on March 23, 1789 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope, the "N4878.9 III 758.9 20m 55s f, 1d 53m n Two nebulae, both vF, vS. N4888 II 778 21m 12s f, 1d 54m n F, S, sf a double star "noted.
